A totally new track technology
When the SA Athletics stadium in Adelaide, was reimagined, it needed a next gen track. The answer? Australia’s first Rekortan Gel track. The green tech gel layer, made up of 84% renewable natural oils and manufactured using green energy, has resulted in the greenest track on the planet. Balancing the force reduction needed for training and the speed required for competition, Rekortan Gel provides energy back (58%) to the athlete without being so firm that it increases the risk of injury. Find out how it is giving athletes more ‘PING’ here.
Future proofing the best
FC Bayern Munich demand the best and they selected Polytan for their training pitches. Polytan brings Bayern Munich quality to clubs and schools around the world, so players everywhere can play on the best, and dream of being the best.
Hockey goes full circle
From natural grass to carbon zero hockey turf. Poligras Paris GT zero, developed for the Paris 2024 Olympics is made from 80% sugarcane and manufactured with green energy. It is the world’s first and only carbon zero hockey turf and has also been FIH Innovation-certified for dry hockey. Find out more here.
Adding magic to empty spaces
The relationship between sport and space is changing. With more innovations, creativity and market demands sports and recreation areas will become surprising, delightful and engaging. The Melos Village concept breaks the rules and finds joy on a rooftop.
Thinking beyond the square
Nike chose APT’s Laykold Masters as the surface for their New York Made concept courts. Designed by world-renowned artist Brian Donnelly (known as KAWS). The surface is part comic, part canvass, part court. The space transforms the game and community.
Giving old balls a second serve
In 2023, over 150 million tennis balls were imported into the USA alone. These balls quickly make their way to landfill and take over 400 years to decompose. In answer to this significant environmental challenge, Laykold partnered with RecycleBalls to turn this year’s balls at the US Open and other tournaments into next year’s community courts. Find out more about how the partnership is helping to off-set the carbon equivalent of 26,000 cars here.
Turning today’s packaging into tomorrow’s turf
We breathe new life into single use packaging by turning it into synthetic playing surfaces that last for 12 to 15 years. The upcycling of Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) material in our playing fields has been verified by the International Sustainability & Carbon Certificate (ISCC) and marks a pioneering step in our journey make the future of sports more sustainable.
